The nose opens gracefully with delicate spring-like aromas of white fruits—pear, apple, and fresh grape—elegantly lifted by a hint of acacia blossom. As the wine evolves in the glass, subtle notes of brioche and freshly baked pastries emerge, revealing the presence of well-integrated fermentative aromas that add complexity and depth. On the palate, the cuvée delivers vibrant citrus expressions, particularly yellow grapefruit, bringing both precision and freshness. A fine, elegant mousse enhances the sensation of harmony and lightness. While the vintage brings a naturally fresh profile, the generous proportion of reserve wines adds balance and roundness—perfectly countering the acidity and offering a refined equilibrium.

“Full bottle 1,610 g. Marked V.21 on the back label. 49% of the wine is vintage 2021, 51% is from their réserve perpetuelle created in 2000. 55% Pinot Meunier, 30% Chardonnay and 15% Pinot Noir. Dosage 3 g/l. Of the base wine (presumably) 10% was aged in oak and 10% in magnum under cork. Aged 42 months on the lees. Warm, welcoming and somehow toasty on the nose. Already quite broad on the palate despite being Extra Brut. Lenoble certainly seem to be able to provide ripe (but still refreshing) fruit in their Extra Brut bottlings. This is even more welcoming than the V.20 Dosage Zero. Very well done.” 17.5 points Jancis Robinson

Behind the bottle: Champagne Lenoble

Founded in 1920 and based in Damery, in the heart of Champagne’s three key vineyard areas, Champagne Lenoble is an independent, family-led Champagne house with more than a century of history. The house has built its reputation on a commitment to craftsmanship, excellence and authenticity, with values passed down through successive generations. In 2023, Champagne Lenoble entered a new chapter when it was acquired by the Frère-Gallienne family, whose passion for fine wine continues to drive the estate’s pursuit of quality and innovation. Lenoble’s philosophy is rooted in the belief that Champagne is the noblest of wines. Through limited production, meticulous attention to detail and a dedication to creating “Grands Vins de Champagne”, the house has earned the respect of both connoisseurs and discerning wine lovers around the world.

Since 2010, the uniqueness of Lenoble’s Grand Vins de Champagne have been magnified by a bold innovation: some of the wines from the perpetual reserve are aged in magnum on their lees, under a cork stopper held in place by a staple. This method gives the wines a second fermentation, known as micro-oxygenated ‘petite-mousse’ (‘small bubbles’), enriching their aromatic palette in the spirit of the greatest grands crus. These reserve wines, patiently matured in magnums, remain in the cellar for a minimum of four years before being blended again with that year’s harvest. Since the creation of the first cuvée, names ‘Mag’ in 2014, this unique art of maturing and blending has been perpetuated every year, affiriming the identity and excellence of Champagne Lenoble. From 2025 onwards, the base of each vintage is indicated on the label by a ‘V’ followed by the year in question, such as ‘V.21’ for the 2021 vintage offering.
