Owned by the Barton family since 1826, it is the smallest of the great Léoville estates. After the death of Anthony Barton in 2022, Lilian and Damien Barton, respectively eight and ninth-generation family members, took over the running of the domaine. There is no Château at Leoville-Barton, the wines are made at sister property, Château Langoa-Barton, the 48 heactare estate lies on the gravelly-clay soils in the east of the Saint-Julien appellation, planted with 78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot and 8% Cabernet Franc, which is typically reflected in the blend. The wines are matured in 50% new oak barriques for 18 months. One of the more consistent producers in the whole of Bordeaux, their wines are classical, elegant and more often than not, outstanding.
