Pinot Noir

2022 Marlborough, New Zealand, 75cl

Snapper Rock Pinot Noir

A silky smooth and elegantly composed pinot noir showing dark plum, cherry, anise and toasted nut characters on the nose with a hint of dark mushroom. It’s succulent and plump on the palate, offering youthful fruit intensity combined with silky texture and well integrated tannins, finishing long and supple. An easy drinking, award winning Pinot Noir that is sure to satisfy!

“A bright, lifted, berry-dominated nose with plenty of warmth and charm showing vibrant aromas of strawberries, red cherry, kirsch, cloves, and oriental spice. A clean, fresh, supple, charming, light-bodied, style with a soft texture and appetising freshness that’s very easy to enjoy.” 92 Pts & 4 Stars – Wine Rater

Behind the bottle: Snapper Rock Wines

The Gil family have been producers in Jumilla since the early 20th century but took a major step forward when Miguel Gil, great-grandson of the company’s founder, built a new bodega in time for the 2003 vintage. Situated on the slopes of the Peñarrubia mountain, the highest part of Jumilla with poor stony soils noted for its richly flavoured, concentrated Monastrell, the bodega owns over 750 hectares of vineyards (mainly bush vines, unirrigated and of very low yield, of indigenous clones from their own nursery) and has access to further fruit from 30 to 70 year old vines. Bodegas Juan Gil is dedicated to producing powerful yet approachable and modern wines, mainly based on Monastrell.
