The Hillside Shiraz was sourced from the best west-facing hillside Marananga block, right in the heart of Barossa. Aged in French and American oak for at least 18 months, this wine is crafted to last the distance and is to be enjoyed in life’s finer moments. Bottled without fining or filtration. Dark ruby coloured, the nose reveals rich dark fruit, plums, blackberry, and blueberry with dark chocolate, mineral and liquorice. Full-bodied and elegant, the wine offers layers of deep flavours, outstanding depth, and a long, smooth finish.
The winery in the hamlet of Marananga was established in 1992 and has sublime vistas over its old vineyards. Ancient gums on rolling Barossa hills overlook Greenock and Seppeltsfield. Behind the small, hands-on winery is a classic, old-time Barossa homestead built in the late 1800s over which a single palm tree stands. All fruit is hand-harvested and naturally-fermented, aged largely in older French barriques and some larger vessels, also some American oak which suits the generosity of the reds here too. Inspired by old-school winemaking techniques Tom White champions natural winemaking from his old vines, respecting the traditional flavours of the Barossa.
