Domaines Bouyer Clos de la Cure, Saint-Émilion Grand Cru (Magnum)

The Saint-Emilion properties Clos de la Cure Grand Cru and Château Milon Grand Cru have been in the Bouyer family for over seven generations. In the capable hands of Alexia and Pierre Bouyer, the domaine takes an ecological approach to the running of the estates aiming to bring out the best of their terroir marked by the fullness of ripe Merlot with intense red fruit aromas underpinned by delicate tannins. Juicy red and black fruits with some drier cedary streaks on the palate. An elegant, complex wine with fantastic structure and long-lingering finish, this never fails to please.

Behind the bottle: Domaines Bouyer

Wine lover Edoardo searched high and low to find the perfect spot to grow Pinot Noir in Bulgaria. The piece of land he chose is on the eastern side of the Thracian Valley. The Saint Ilia hills shade the area from the freezing Baltic winds while a natural lake nearby regulates the temperature. Miroglio had extensive tests and research done just to confirm his theories. He purchased the land in 1998 and by 2004 they had produced their first vintage. Everything at Miroglio is done to the best of their abilities with state of the art equipment. This attention to detail also extends to the people involved with Miroglio bringing in the incredibly talented Alberto Le Rosa (ex-Luciano Sandrone Barolo viticulturist) and Bulgaria’s top lady winemaker, Desislava Baicheva, who both only joined the team as they could see the excellent potential of the wines having tasted the earliest vintages. As the vines here age and the team gain more insight into the nuances of the Thracian Valley terroir, these wines go from strength to strength.
