FINE & EVERYDAY WINE

Château Lalande Saint-Julien

Château Lalande

Saint-Julien

2018 Bordeaux, France, 75cl

Château Lalande Saint-Julien

Château Lalande is made up from 55% Cabernet, 40% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc and is perfectly situated between Châteaux Talbot and Lagrange (classified in 1855 as fourth and third growths respectively). This enviable position elevates what is in fact a simple petite Château to something quite special. As such, the wine possesses all the richness and power that you should expect from a classed Saint-Julien estate, but at half the price. Textbook pencil lead, tea chest nose with a well structured palate of intense cassis fruit and fine grained tannins. Fantastic value!

Behind the bottle: Château Lalande

From the consistent and often underrated Bordeaux appellation of Saint-Julien, this gem of a Petit Château on the left bank of the Gironde is well worthy of its position between the more famous fourth growth, Château Talbot and third growth, Château Lagrange, of which it was once a part. Since 1964, the winery has been owned by the Meffre family, and today it is managed Jean-Paul and his two sons, Ludovic and Julien.
