This is an excellent example of an ancient white grape variety native to the Canavese district of Piemonte. Trained on a pergola grown in loose, moraine soils, rich in stone, the old vines (average age) are hand harvested. Offering a pure and mineral expression, with hints hawthorn and fruit, it is intensely fruity with vibrant acidity. A worthy new find!

Located in Collecorvino amongst the hills northwest of Pescara, this is recognised as one of the best vineyard zones in Abruzzo and Rocco Pasetti’s is deeply conscious of this precious gift bestowed by nature to his family, as they act as dedicated guardians to these fertile lands.

Siting at around 250m altitude, these south-facing slopes of clay-chalk soils are ideal for the cultivation of Montepulciano, with Pecorino grown on the lower slopes, they practise the philosophy that ‘wine is made in the vineyard’. Combining traditional methods, with innovations in technology, the estate involves the next generation and their contemporary labels are the first indication of the modern style of wine-making employed. These are impeccably made wines expressing Abruzzo’s local grapes, yet demonstrate substance, balance and elegance.
