Malbec is one of the great transformation stories in the wine world. Originally used as a blending grape in Bordeaux — and still central to the wines of Cahors, where it is known as Côt — it found its modern identity in the high-altitude vineyards of Argentina, particularly Mendoza and the Valle de Uco. There, the combination of intense sunshine, cool nights and ancient soils brings a depth, richness and generosity the grape rarely achieves in France.
The resulting wines are full of dark fruit, velvety texture and warmth, yet the best examples retain freshness, structure and surprising finesse. Few red grapes offer such consistent pleasure across so broad a range of styles and price points.
